ABOUT PAGE
WELCOME
My mission is to help you live your most vital life filled with physical health and mental clarity. My services and practices are strategically designed to positively impact diversity, equity, and inclusion, with health effectiveness, fitness, and safety in mind. As an early pioneer in the aerobics and fitness industry, I applied the tenets of positive psychology and appreciative leadership to help individuals and groups thrive in body, mind and spirit.
My groundbreaking strategies integrate embodiment, motivation psychology, and physical movement with the science of happiness and lifestyle as medicine. Through my teaching, speaking, fitness programs, presentations, hosting, and writing, I’ve led thousands of people and top-level companies, and organizations — including AARP, Allstate, the U.S. Army, University of the Sciences and the University of Pennsylvania — toward better health, greater resilience, happiness and positivity. My work around the power of appreciation and group leadership training have helped people building stronger bonds, and inspired positive legacy building. My work also helps people age with vitality.
I was a member of the “Older Women’s League” at age 23, when I was an adjunct college instructor teaching “Fitness Through Dance,” and “Fitness Training” courses. My affinity toward aging, aerobics/fitness and positive determination led me to creating an award winning program, “Dancercise” for the state of New Jersey in 1991 to build community and to reduce addictive behaviors. This program has served thousands of seniors/adults and their families.
Earlier, I studied and tutored Psychology in a graduate program at Montclair State University. As an early dance-exercise instructor, I taught Aerobics ‘n Rhythm classes and then led their instructor training. I founded Shore Fitness Inc., teaching, training and then produced and choreographed the first halftime show fundraiser with over 300 dancers for the National Football League. This benefit, “A Giant IDEA for Better Breathing,” raised over $50,000.00 for the American Lung Association Patient Services Program. Further my innovation was adopted nationwide and raised over six million dollars.
My values in promoting safety standards and effectiveness in fitness training led me to work with the Educational Testing Services to create the first fitness industry guidelines for the American Council on Exercise, formerly the IDEA Foundation.
For ten years, I served as a director, consultant, trainer, official, and U.S Head Judge, for the Reebok U.S. National Aerobics Championships (NAC). I had the honor of working with athletes, coaches, judges and officials throughout the U.S. and in Costa Rica, Korea, Sweden, Mexico, and in preparation for the World Aerobics Championship. I also served as a liaison, noted for extending diplomatic ties, between the U.S.-Soviet Union NAC Teams.
Along with speaking, writing, and presenting, I am a Health Coach, and Gold Certified in Lifestyle and Weight Management, supporting people, and organizations toward positive behavioral changes. I’ve had the honor of leading thousands of people toward positivity, health and fitness. Over the past 30 years, I’ve facilitated leadership trainings, produced live and virtual educational and training events, taught team building, led stress and energy management, designed award-winning fitness programs, and led dance-exercise to people at senior centers, college campuses, in the boardroom, at conferences, and again, at Giant’s Stadium. In my work, since my MAPP degree, I have worked with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on the first white paper in Positive Health, and have presented workshops, including for the Penn MAPP Alumni’s Strategies to Thrive, Body Full of Joy, and as a coach, consultant and speaker.
I have taught, written about, and presented about how the science of happiness, movement psychology, and lifestyle as medicine can help improve:
How you age.
Your physical health.
Your mental clarity and well-being.
Relationship matters.
Our ability to adapt, and the potential to change for good.
Resilience to non-communicable diseases (heart disease, cancer, depression, diabetes, pulmonary lung and the effects of loneliness), reducing health care and human costs.
Regulate your emotional balance.
Your immune system.
Your resilience and empower your responses to stress.
Your physical fitness to help you look, feel and do GREAT!
I have attended, and presented at international positive psychology and fitness conferences throughout the U.S. and around the world. I am a member of the International Positive Psychology Health and Wellness Leader Team, and was recently appointed to the Global Positive Health Institute advisory council. My work has been featured in MAPP Magazine, the American Psychological Association Journal of Women and Therapy, Positive Psychology News, and SHAPE magazine.
My innovative research is considered groundbreaking in that it demonstrates how physical exercise, and lifestyle as medicine, can be a powerful tool for combating depression, anxiety, and loneliness. My work explores positivity in mind-body and body-mind connections, science-backed strategies for optimal mental health, physical vibrancy, longevity, positive aging, health span, and optimal experiences.
Do you want to move toward flourishing? I can help you:
Learn how positive movement habits can shape up your life every day.
Invest in quick “beneficial and necessary” Energy Breaks ANYWHERE.
Apply skills, like positivity, to ease your mind, and elevate your mood.

She has a gift of giving love and showing us how to love ourselves by providing our bodies with exercise that is fun. She saved my life and I will always be eternally grateful.”

Speaking as the president of our alumni association at Penn, not only did her leadership as editor of the MAPP Magazine transform the publication by helping to shine a spotlight on what her fellow alumni were doing around the world to increase the tonnage of positivity; but her evidence-based insistence that positive psychology include interventions that change our bodies and not just our minds, has rippled across our alumni and now around the world with her work on Body Full of Joy. I’m so grateful for all that Elaine has done for our community”
